Welcome to the Nuwerth Campaign.
Here are some of the things that inspired me for this campaign.
Over 1000 years ago the Infernal horde came to Nuwerth and enslaved the races of man. About 300 years ago the Celestial legion came and took up arms against the Infernals and as a way to protect the surviving peoples of this world, a group of Humans, Elves, Halflings and Half-Elves were placed on a remote island sanctuary. Protected by a vast shield the peoples were able to recover and build a great city within the confines of the island and its harbor This City has come to be known as Angels Reach. The magic that powers the shield drew the attention of Gnome Witches and a connection was made between their realm and this one. The Gnomish magic of portals between realms was used to make a connection to the Terra and contact has been made with the Dwarf people there.
35 years ago a trip to the main land was made to see if the war between the Celestials and the Infernals still waged. The main land was deserted and all that was left were ruins and nomadic tribes of Half-Orc Druids and Rangers. Since then yearly trips have been made from the City of Angels Reach to the main land. Pioneers and archaeologists have been both carving out an existence and discovering the lost history of the world of Nuwerth.
The Player Characters will be starting in the frontier settlement of Berrit’s Crossing. A moderately sized coastal town that is the starting point of a caravan route across the plains to the western mountains.
